The subtle alliance between refinement and balance in a great Rhône Valley wine

The property

An emblematic name for the great wines of the northern Rhône Valley, Maison Paul Jaboulet-Aîné was founded in 1834 in Tain L'Hermitage. The renowned oenologist and winemaker Caroline Frey runs this illustrious house, owned by the Frey family since 2006. Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné watches over a vineyard of 125 hectares of vines, spread over exceptional appellations such as Saint-Joseph, Crozes -Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu or even Muscat from Beaumes-de-Venise.

The Hermitage and Crozes Hermitage vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2017.

In search of innovation, the Frey family recently inaugurated a new space dedicated to the production of two of its flagship wines: La Chapelle and Chevalier de Stérimberg. Baptized Domaine de la Chapelle , this new ensemble, which benefits from a remarkable cellar designed by the illustrious Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, embodies the pursuit of excellence by Caroline Frey and her team in the creation of increasingly refined wines.

The vineyard

The Knight Gaspard of Sterimberg, injured during the Albigensian Crusade, asked the White Queen of Castile for authorization to settle in 1224 on a hill on which he founded his hermitage.

Coming from a rigorous selection of the most beautiful plots in the west of the appellation, this Hermitage wine is made from old vines aged 40 to 95 years, grown in stakes and planted on a mosaic of terroirs participating in the signature of this exceptional vintage.

Assembly

La Chapelle Paul Jaboulet-Aîné 2006 from Domaine de la Chapelle is a 100% syrah .
