The delicate, smoky flavor and surprising gray-brown color of this salt are due to its drying over a fire of red alder or Hickory wood. This sea salt is harvested from the waters of the Pacific in Washington State and takes its name from the Salish Indian tribes who originated its preparation and who inhabited the state long before colonization. Its incredibly smoky scent is more subtle on the palate than on the nose, and its strong saltiness allows it to be used sparingly.

Perfect for seasoning meats and grilled foods, it remains fine enough to accompany all your dishes, salads, fish, sauces, soups and spreads, and of course the traditional American breakfast!
