Green Jalapeno pepper - 80g
Green Jalapeno pepper - 80g
Powerful aroma, slightly sweet taste and medium heat. Very versatile in the kitchen. Great in sauces or sprinkled on anything that needs a little spice.
The jalapeño is the best-known and most consumed pepper in the world. Of the Capsicum annuum species, the jalapeño is a moderately hot variety, with values between 2,500 and 8,000 on the Scoville scale. In Mexico, the jalapeño pepper is also known in some regions as the cuaresmeño pepper.
The origin of its name is in the town of Xalapa, also called Jalapa, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. Spanish and Portuguese explorers introduced them to Europe and Asia in the 15th and 16th centuries.
All chili peppers are full of vitamins and antioxidants. The green variety of jalapeño has ripened less than the red (milder) jalapeño, so levels of capsiacin (the chemical that makes peppers hot) are lower. They are a source of vitamins and antioxidants.
