Coriander (Coriandrum sativum), also called Chinese parsley or Arabic parsley, is a herbaceous condiment and medicinal plant cultivated for its seeds and leaves.

The name coriander comes from its Greek name koris, which means bug in reference to the strong smell its leaves give off.

In cooking, coriander is the condiment emblem of oriental cuisine: fresh, the leaves flavor raw vegetables, salads and various dishes, while the seeds are used in marinades, vinegars, court broth, cold meats, etc.
